Findlay, Ohio resident Chandra Sekar is thrilled with the production from his 4.34 kW solar power system. Sekar installed 14 Canadian Solar Max Power CS6X 310-watt poly-crystalline panels to go along with his SMA Sunny Boy string inverter. His panel efficiency is over 16% while his inverter efficiency is 96%.
“I’m an environmentalist,” said Sekar. “I care about nature, about the planet we’re leaving for future generations. Both of my kids are studying environmental science in school. We wanted to reduce our carbon footprint and make sure we were doing our part.”
His system is forecasted to produce around 5,500 kWh of electricity per year. This is enough to offset the burning of nearly three tons of coal per year. Based on a state average of $0.12 per kWh, this would be electrical savings of over $675 per year, or around $56 per month.
“The economic reasons weren’t the most important thing when I decided to go solar. Most people who go solar probably aren’t looking at the payback because it is ten years or more. That’s just too long for most people because they aren’t thinking that far ahead.”
Sekar contacted YellowLite in April of 2014 and his solar panels were installed in May. When asked what the deciding factor was between YellowLite and other solar companies, Sekar said it was a combination of the service, price, and warranty. Sekar said he investigated solar thoroughly before eventually finding YellowLite. “I think the first time I called a solar company was in 2013 and they wouldn’t drive out to my house since it was too far. I did another search online a year later and found YellowLite. I talked to Jose and he said he would come out to my house. I wound up going with YellowLite.”

“My neighbors and the people in my town are finding it hard to believe that my panels produce enough electricity to make a difference. My electricity bill was decreased by $50-60 a month. The system is producing exactly what the company said it would. I’ve recommended YellowLite to three other people.”
